Today we met with our Messy Church family (you are all welcome to join us every second Thursday at 3.30 pm term time). We come together, young and grown ups, to chat, share hurts and joys, make crafts, dance, tell stories, do magic tricks, eat and play. Today we considered what it means to be lost and to be found.......or even to find ourselves, and find that every single one of us have a purpose, something to contribute, every single one of us is needed to make the whole beautiful. In our picture above, a picture depicting all of life, with a home, with spaces of play and recreation, with the nature blooming and the sun shining, we hid different things, things that you might lose and then together we searched to find them, helped each other to find what was lost.
Dear friends, community can help us find that which we have lost, and community can help us find ourselves. In the Bible, Jesus told stories of people losing things, and when those things were found, the people threw a party, and invited others to celebrate for what was lost, was found. That is how God rejoices when we find ourselves, and see ourselves through the eyes of God, full of love and delight.
